Our History
Robert Ashton LISTER, born on February 4th, 1845, in Dursley, Gloucestershire, founded a company in 1867, initially producing agricultural equipment such as cream separators and shearing machinery. This marked the beginning of what would evolve into LISTER PETTER. Knighted in 1911 for his business acumen and parliamentary contributions, Sir Robert’s legacy continued after passing in 1929. The same year saw the production of LISTER’s first diesel engine, the CS series, known for its reliability and longevity, with subsequent models introduced in the following years. These engines, painted in Brunswick Green, became renowned for their durability and are widely used globally in various applications.
